Frequently asked questions

What area do you cover?

I’m a wedding photographer based near Colchester, covering weddings in Essex, the whole of the UK and abroad. Bookings further than 50 miles from Colchester will be charged per mile. Depending on distance I may have to ask for accommodation costs to be covered. Just get in touch with your ideas, and we can have a chat!

Do you work alone?

I generally work alone, and this works perfectly for most weddings. For larger weddings though (100+ guests), I recommend booking a second photographer. With a larger number of guests it is impossible for me alone to capture ALL the fun. A second photographer will be able to capture alternative perspectives, many more candid shots (whilst i am doing the group shots for example), and additional details. Also a second photographer makes sense if you would like to have both, the bridal and the groom prep, covered or if there are multiple locations on the day. An additional photographer can be easily added to your package.

do you have back-up equipment?

Absolutely! I carry two full-frame Nikon cameras with me, each equipped with two card slots for immediate back-up. Additionally, I have an assortment of lenses and flashlights in my bag. Once I am back home from your wedding I transfer the raw images to my external hard drive, so I have three copies of your photos.

Are you insured?

Yes! I am insured with PolicyBee and have got public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

How do I book?

Like with most wedding photographers, my schedule tends to fill up quickly, especially for the summer months. To ensure that you secure your desired date, please get in touch with me through my contact form. I normally reply within 24 hours and provide you with a personalised quote. While I always offer the opportunity for a quick chat to say hello and discuss any details, this is entirely optional. If you decide to book with me, a 20% deposit along with an agreement to my terms and conditions will be required to secure your booking. The remaining payment will be due 14 days prior to your wedding day. As the date approaches, I will send a further invoice for your convenience.

How would you describe your style?

I am telling the (love) story of your special day through an unobtrusive, documentary-style approach. I blend in with your guests, working in the background to capture every raw emotion, every moment of laughter, and every happy tear up until you letting your hair down on the dance floor. The majority of the day is captured candidly, but I always ensure to set aside enough time for those important couple photos. During our final consultation, we will discuss the best moments to plan these portraits, considering weather conditions and the flow of your day. Depending on the weather and the itinerary on your day, I also always try and take my couples out during the golden or blue hour, because not only it creates the most stunning images, but in my experience it is a perfect way to escape everything for a moment and enjoy a quiet little walk together with me and my camera after a long day.

Can we have group photos?

As described above, my approach is mainly characterised by a reportage and story-telling style. While I emphasise candid shots, I also acknowledge the significance of group photos with your loved ones. With an average time of up to 5 minutes per group photo, I recommend limiting the number of group photos to not more than 10. To ensure efficiency, I advise the couple to designate one person from the wedding party to assist me on the day in gathering the guests needed for the group photos. This streamlined approach ensures that the group photos won't take too long, allowing everyone to return to celebrating your love without unnecessary delay.

When will we receive our photos?

Every photo is carefully hand-edited, with attention to detail and artistic vision. This means that during busy periods from May to September, it is possible for the turnaround time to extend up to 12 weeks before receiving your final gallery. However in most cases I deliver within no longer than 8 weeks. The quieter times of the year allows for a faster turnaround, typically taking around 4 to 5 weeks.

Do we have to feed you?

Working long hours, often without a break, is physically demanding and making us quite hungry. That's why we truly appreciate it when we are fed a meal during the wedding breakfast. As I don't want to be away from the reception for too long, I really do not want the whole three course meal. However, if you kindly provide me with the main course, that would be absolutely fantastic! I am open to eating everything except meat. I have no dietary restrictions (except for my unfortunate allergy to kiwi).
